Who cares if Saddam is dead?

US intelligence and the press continue to be obsessed about whether Saddam is dead or alive.

I've said it before, and will continue to say it: who cares?

Will the US and UK stop the war if Saddam is dead? Will it coax Iraqis into laying down their arms? The answer to both is "no". The Iraqis are fighting for something bigger than Saddam -- the existence of their nation against an aggressor state. Why else would Saddam's enemies be fighting the US?

And the US isn't fighting this war for "regime change", but economic domination of the region. They don't care who is in power, so long as that government is friendly to US interests. Uzbekistan is Exhibit A.

So let's get this behind us. Saddam is dead. Saddam is alive.

We can now focus on those things that are really important.
