Rumsfeld compares Iraq to DC

It really is one a day, with yet another deadly ambush killing an American GI and wounding two others.

Yet Rummy can't be bothered:

"You've got to remember that if Washington, D.C., were the size of Baghdad, we would be having something like 215 murders a month," Rumsfeld said. "There's going to be violence in a big city."
I'll conceede Rumsfeld his "Baghdad is like DC" analogy when I read the following story in the paper:
Washington D.C. (Reuters) - A rocket-propelled grenade hit an ambulance in southern D.C. on Thursday, killing a policeman and wounding two, a D.C. police spokesman said.
Sadly, both Rummy and Wolfowitz still labor under the delusion that opposition stems from "small elements" of a "dying regime". They trumpet rounding up 500 or 700 "baathists", yet see no real reduction in our casualty rates. They capture "high ranking" officials, to little net effect.

This is still low-intensity resistance. The shit will hit the fan. It's coming. It's only a matter of time.
