Issa to urge "No" vote on recall

With prospects good of a Bustamante victory if Davis is recalled, Darrell Issa is urging a "No on Recall" vote unless either McClintock or Schwarzenegger drop out of the race.

In many ways, a Davis loss and Bustamante victory is the GOP's biggest nightmare. At a time when Bush is asidiously courting the Latino vote, a Democratic Latino heading the country's largest and most important state (6th largest economy and all) would put a crimp on those efforts.

In addition, Bustamante would provide Democrats with a clean slate in California, washing away all the stench -- deserved and undeserved -- currently plaguing Davis.

All of which makes Issa's flirtations with a "No on Recall" vote make perfect sense.
