Monday | September 09, 2002 Arizona dems making races competitive In a rarity for a state long-dominanted by the GOP, Democrats are well-positioned to win the state's governorship and two new congressional seats. Dem gubernatorial candidate Janet Napolitano leads GOPer Matt Salmon in the latest polls. The state is suffering a massive budget crisis after years of unchallenged GOP control of the governorship and state legislature.
