Friday | January 10, 2003 Pick a Number, Any Number NATO Allies Willing to Attack Iraq Without UN, Wolfowitz Says Washington, Jan. 10 -- Several NATO allies have told the U.S. they remain ready to wage war in Iraq even without further authorization from the United Nations, U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said. "We've had quite a number of NATO allies say to us 'we are with you with or without another Security Council resolution,'" Wolfowitz said. The Deputy Secretary refused to disclose exactly how many NATO allies have indicated their willingness to engage in such a flagrant violation of international law, but admitted the number was "somewhat less than 1."
