Tuesday | February 18, 2003 US war plans hit snag with Turkey With the US desperate to open up a second Iraq front in Turkey, its war plans have hit a (temporary?) snag as Turkey holds out for more cash. The deficit-ridden Bush Administration, who has shortchanged homeland security funding by billions, has somehow found $26 billion in grants and loan guarantees to try and buy Turkey's support. But Turkey wants more. In fact, Turkey wants around $50 billion in aid. So Bush destroyed the nation's surpluses, brought us record deficits, and on top of all that, is bribing foreign governments to build support for war? Remember, as Bush is fond of saying -- this is your money. And your children's. And your grandchildren's. Posted February 18, 2003 07:54 AM | Comments (47) |
