Friday | February 28, 2003 Return of the living dead Or the dead living. These days I'm not always sure which. Yes, I'm back. I'll be sitting in for kos this weekend while he tends to the other subidiary in the growing kos web empire -- State Political Report. If you haven't checked it out yet, go do it. The link is there on the top right. But come back soon, because I'm going to try to whip up some good dialog here, and I'll need all the help I can get. Fair warning, though: My posts tend to run a little long -- well, more than a little, more like book length. I got some complaints last time I guest hosted, so I'm going to make a good faith effort to keep them shorter. But I make no promises. These are momentous times -- the most critical since the end of the Cold War, maybe even World War II. There's a lot to say and a lot to hear, and some of things I want to talk about take time to explain. So if quick hits are what you crave, other blogs may do a better job of hitting the spot the next few days. A final disclaimer: at times this weekend it might seem this has turned into the all-Iraq-all-the-time blog. I'll try to mix it up, but again I'll make no promises -- or apologies. The war is going to dominate the political landscape for the next election cycle, if not the next generation. We need to understand what it means, and how to respond. To be honest, it's also an incredibly interesting and exciting story: the kind that really gets my journalistic juices going. So stick around; I'll try to make it worth your while. Having said all that, let me move on to my first topic. As you know Shrub and Co. are frantically trolling for votes on the UN Security Council to pass a second resolution giving them more explicit authority to invade Iraq. This is leading them to look in some rather unsavory places, as I explain next. Billmon Posted February 28, 2003 03:16 PM | Comments (12) |
