Thursday | March 20, 2003 If we kill Saddam, what then? Well, the US made an attempt to take out Saddam. Whether it was successful or not remains to be seen. But the question on my mind is, what if he is, indeed, dead (whether by missile or assassination)? Then, what if the Republican Guard, looking out for its best interests, kills or arrests Saddam's two sons, and most of his inner circle. What if a general takes over the country. We have regime change. The new guy vows to scour the country for WMDs and pledges complete and unequivical disarmament "to spare the Iraqi people further hardship". But here's the kicker -- this new leader refuses to let US forces enter Iraq, vowing to protect his nation's "territorial integrity". What then? Does Bush pack up the troops and send them home? Of course not. This is about more than regime change. Posted March 20, 2003 12:01 AM | Comments (198) |
