GOP leads charge against new FCC rules

The FCC decision lifting limits on media ownership passed on a 3-2 partisan vote. The congressional opposition now brewing is a bipartisan affair.

In fact, leading the charge is none other than disgraced GOPer segregationist Trent Lott:

Sen. Trent Lott of Mississippi told a news conference there was no partisanship in Senate opposition to the new cap.

"A lot of Republicans, in fact, probably most of the Republicans in Congress, would not agree with this decision," said Lott, the former Republican leader of the Senate.

Of course, all the action seems to be happening in the Senate, with little indication of GOP reaction in the House. It will be interesting to see how DeLay and Hastert react (neither of whom have commented publicly).
