That makes 50

Fifty US military fatalities Iraq in the 48 days since since May 1, when Dubya declared "Mission Accomplished".

Marine Pfc. Ryan Cox, originally of Derby, Kansas, died of friendly fire Sunday in Najaf.

A soldier (not yet identified) died in an "apparent non-hostile incident" Sunday in Taji.

A soldier (not yet identified) was shot in the back by a sniper late Monday in Baghdad, and pronounced dead early Tuesday.

One minor milestone on a long helical highway to nowhere.
