Tuesday | July 01, 2003 Redistricting is back in Texas The Texas GOP, at the behest of DeLay and Rove, are trying to redraw the state's congressional map in a special session called by the Guv. Unlike the dramatic walkout last time the bill came to a vote, the Dems will actually have to take a stand and stop it in the legislature. Charles Kuffner has the latest over at the Political State Report. Note that if the GOP gets this pushed through, and if the courts allow it to happen (still an iffy proposition), then it'll mean a gain of 5-8 House seats, without the trouble of, you know, elections or messy things like that. For the GOP, that's about par for the course. Posted July 01, 2003 01:23 AM | Comments (37) |
