Thursday | September 04, 2003 Estrada withdraws name Wingnut Bush Miguel Estrada, nominated by Bush to serve as an appelate judge, withdrew his name from consideration after a successful Dem filibuster. What's interesting about this case is that Estrada would've gotten an up or down vote -- which he would've won (GOoPers control the Senate) if he had only answered questions at this confirmation hearing. However, Estrada refused to discuss his views on abortion and affirmative action, among other things, so Senate Dems didn't have the information they needed to properly consider the nomination.
