I generally ignore the Israel/Palestine conflict, as I consider it a quagmire of the worst kind, with both sides culpable and no "good guys" to root for.

I only care about conflicts in which the warring factions have a genuine interest in peace, and not a pathological desire to wipe each other off the face of the earth.

So it doesn't surprise me to see that Mahmoud Abbas has quit. The cycle continues.
